Transfering to UST : guides,tips,etc...

And boom! Here it is.. a blog or a guide that would  answer some of your questions and give you important tips and instructions for transferring to University of Santo Tomas. This blog would have greatly benefited me in the past when I sorely needed it. Unfortunately, I had to get answers with my own hard work because sites and threads don’t give the exact instructions for my situation. Hopefully, this blog would have helped you in some kind of way and save you time or money perhaps.

So, you want to transfer to UST eyh? well good luck to you!

First and foremost, ever heard of people saying "oh it's difficult to transfer to UST", "The University limits applications of transfer students to exceptionally meritorious cases", "bihira ang nakaka transfer doon" dont let those words, discourage you from trying, whats there to lose anyway? When there's a will, there's a way!

There will be three separate instructions. First is for filipino students who wants to transfer to UST. Second is for filipinos who graduated high school abroad and is interested in transferring to UST or any other school.
Third is for exam tips.

you probably saw this in their site already, but its just a heads up.
Policy Guidelines and Conditions
A student from another school/college/university who wishes to transfer to the University must:
1.have no failing grades in any course;
2.have not been subjected to disciplinary action in the school/college/university of origin; and
3.meet the requirements for residency in the University.

2. The transferee applicant shall forward the Certificate of Good Moral Character to the University’s Office for Student Affairs for clearance.
3. After careful evaluation of the transferee’s credentials, the Dean shall endorse the transferee to the Office of the Secretary General for approval to take the UST – Transferee’s Qualifying Test (UST – TQT).
4. If the transferee passes the UST – TQT, he/she must accomplish the Admission Memo and submit it to the Office of the Registrar together with his/her original copy of transfer credentials.

What to take note and do when transferring to ust

1) In your college, request for TOR,Good Moral,Subject description and honorable dismissal. Mine took two weeks before i could received it.This is Philippines, you need to exchange money for a speedy service. so if you want to rush it, either pay or make a good excuse for urgent reasons.

2) once you received the documents, photocopy each set it (twice or more) ,request for dry seal and signature on photocopies from your school.

3) here comes the letter of intent! this is a very important letter. The dean or the college staff will read it. make sure you express yourself clearly. make yourself look impressive and beneficial to the college you're applying for. Explain why you chose UST and how you got to know it. Go all out on your skills and talents. do not be afraid to show off. Lastly, check your grammar, vocabulary and sentence structure. this letter will reflect on your English skills.Print at least two or three.

4) once you have the necessary documents(photocopies), go to UST(remember to bring ID) and submit it to the college of your choice. they will collect it and give you a number. you will be asked to call a week later to check if your qualified for the exam. Next, go to another college or two and submit the requirements again. there is a reason why i told you to make photocopies. This is a must! Unless you are very sure that you are qualified and will ace the test, you should submit the requirements to another college too, just in case you aren't qualified in your first choice of college.Every college has different requirements and standards.(another blog will explain why this is a witty move and a good back up plan.)

5) after a week, call every college you applied for and verify if you are qualified to take the exam. Once they have said that you are qualified, go to the College of your choice. Go to the dean's office and inquire about your transfer application. they will  photocopy your documents together with the approval stamp ''to take the ustet''. Go to Yan Kee student center, office for admission.Give them your documents that has been approved by the college of your choice.

6) the office of admission's staff will then make you fill up on application form, you have to give them 2 '2x2' passport photo and birth certificate.afterwards, you will be asked to pay the 600pesos fee for the exam at the cashier located at the main building.

7) after the payment is complete, head back to to Tan Yan Kee student center and show your receipt and documents. they will then tell you when your exam schedule is

8) keep calm and jump for joy! haha! don't forget to revise.

Note*

Go read my other blog which explains why there's a need to have extra copies of documents for another college in ust. This is if UST is really your dream school and you want to get in whatever it takes.

Second and Third instructions will be in another blog, go check it out.
